Volunteer Sitters

Dave and Linda Scheid

We learned about WAGS when Dave visited with a man at East Towne who had a WAGS puppy and we did a little online research at about the same time our daughter planned to move to Colorado and our dog, Baby, developed cancer.  Some of the dogs who have come to our Bed and Biscuit since 2002 include:  Arty, Astro, Ajax, Apollo, Austin, Booker, Bamboo, Carly, Cajun and Forrest.  Arty lived with us just before being placed and is our all time favorite big boy.  He was an attentive, devoted companion during Linda's rehab from knee surgery and never flinched in the doctor's office when 19 staples were ripped from her flesh.  Bethel Lutheran Church remembers him quietly crossing his paws as he waited and, of course, his distinctive tail and manner of sitting.  Getting to know and watching Rob, one of Arty's trainers, and seeing what Arty has meant to his partner, Nancy, has been a great experience.

In Loving Memory of Dave

Dave Scheid, a soft-spoken and kind man, became a WAGS volunteer Sitter with his wife Linda Scheid beginning with "A" dogs in 2003.  Arty wiggled his way into the Scheid family knowing Dave would toss a football endlessly and happily brought his dish to the counter to be filled.  Dave died while on vacation on Tortola in the British Virgin Islands on March 14, 2007, just weeks from his planned retirement.  The Scheids were happy to designate memorials to WAGS in Dave's name, an organization he believed in and to dogs that benefited from his gentle kindness.  We will miss Dave and remember the many contributions he made to WAGS.
